I ordered a $15 used key FOB on ebay that was not aftermarket but from another Jeep (not sure if it was a cherokee or not). Trying to get it programmed was a pain but I FINALLY found a dealership that only charged $25 to do it, as opposed to $100, which was not uncommon to hear when I asked. So $40 bucks later I've got factory Keyless, YAY!

The only thing I'm not sure about is whether the tailgate is suppose to work with the system or not. Should that also lock and unlock with the clicker? Mine does not. It's a 99 Sport.

Yea on my 2001 it locks/unlocks as well at the push of a button. all interior lights turn on as well when unlock bottom is pushed.

 

I didn't even know I had keyless entry till I requested a Buildsheet from Jeep and found it there, then I did the same.
