extra cooling?
ok so i dont recall seeing this and it might be stupid but ive been wondering... my xjs never 'over heated' knock on wood lol and i have a mini hood scoop on as well for some heat to escape easier. my question is, has anyone ever cut or drilled holes in the firewall somewhere to let more heat escape up through the panel where the wipers are just for even more heat to escape??

Seems like a good idea to me, so I'm sure someone smarter than me will point out why it is a terrible idea. Haha.

Best you can do to keep coolant temps where they should be is to maintain your cooling system for 110% efficiency. Louvers, hood scoops, hood raising (I've had this done for going on 2yrs),etc will reduce under the hood temps which are hard on components.

For preventative maintenance I'd regard the radiator as a 100k mile service item. Less hassle in the long run.

$100 every 100K? I could live with that. But then again for another $150 or so you could redo the whole cooling system. All depending on proper maintainence of course.
