the younger version of me would say "alone, at night, with unkown rights of land use, by yourself, fast as hell, and drunk if possible"

but stick with what the others are saying, safer that way.

the thing I always do before tackling a absticle Im not sure of is look not only at it but how i might get out of it. I have a winch. a tool set in box cardboard will not hold up if it gets wet and sometimes tears. when go to water crossing i gauge the water depth and how deep and sticky the mud is. usually with a near by stick. I see if there something to tie off to near by.
I always carry a flint and lighter in my rig lots of water and some caned food. remember. to always prepare for the worst case.

For unknown water crossings ill check them out in my hip waders with a 6'price of broom handle. This way you get a good feel for the bottom.

I used to wheel alone, then I got myself hung up, teetering at the top of a hill. It was a 2010 subaru forester, so the suspension didnt have a whole a ton of travel.. I had to walk a couple miles, no cell phone reception, not even gps lol.. The entire time I was worried it was going to slip and roll down the hill and into the trees.. but thankfully It didnt. hopefully taking the jeep out tomorrow with about 5-10 people... going with people is safer and more fun, because if you get stuck, they can tug you out and you can keep going.
