im running 4.56 grars with 35's, and i tear in to it, never had a problem at all, it will take it the only bad part is the d30 and components on them can get bent pretty easily

I know a few guys around here that run 35s on their YJs with the D30 up front, thats a LP D30. I also know one guy who runs 35s on his XJ D30 front, he had cromo shafts but sold them because he was breaking ring gears. now he just replaces shafts once in a while. surpringly he says he replaces shafts less than he did R&Ps with the cromos so I'd say its a good trade off. The XJ is on 4.88s dont know about the YJs though.

All YJ d30's are high pinion

mmm I'd still like a couple more positive comments about 4.88 and 35's with stock shafts
I can replace a shaft or two every and again but I dont want to do it every trip

from my experience it's all subjective. i know a guy who breaks something in his rear end (35) just about every time he goes out running 35's (not sure on gears) but never even touched the front, he was running a lunchbox, and he's not one to push it two hard either. he finally upgraded to chevy one ton and hasn't looked back since

just tell me how you like your 35's
I have 35s on a D30 with 4.88s and an aussie and a D44 with 4.88s and a lokrite in the rear on a 4" lift. Drivetrain is completely stock otherwise and I wheel the crap outta my XJ. We just got back from Morris Mountain and ChoccoLocco and everyone there thought I'd break on every trail or never make it up anything (they were all on 1 tons and 42s and up). Ive been to these parks twice river rock twice and windrock once and I follow my buddies TJ on tons and 42s everywhere and have only broke one long side shaft in 3 years. Its all about wheeling smart and lining up straight on to obsticles and not hitting the skinny pedal all the time.

I know mine were but i swear he said his was LP. I'll have to ask him next time but you're probably right.

Thats because its a Dana 35, its not fit for a go cart nevermind a jeep. D30 FRONT is what we're talking about.

i realize my post was kinda of misleading to my point in retrospect but was not intended that way

once again plans have changed. my buddy might be taking the 8.8 out of his ranger
disc brake, factory lsd, yukon 4.56, and chromo. he'll clean it off and sell it to me for $300. what do you think?
so I'll just gear and lockrite the front now if this deal works out.

If it is still the 28 spline 8.8 that came in it, then its not worth it

I highly doubt he built a 28 spline 8.8
I'm not gonna bug him about it till he decides to pull it or not.
but assuming it is 30 spline or more, it is saving me money on buying RP and install
that being said. still worth $300?

If its correct gears for you and its 31 spline I'd take it, if not I'd keep my 8.25.

Keep in mind I can get any type of axle for 89$ here at the local upull lol
