for real, not the owner's manual weights. here you go. there is a scale about a half mile from my house, on base. so i stop on it pretty regularly.
3360 with half a tank of gas.
and this is as stock as you can get for an 87 4x4 with 4.0 and auto. the only non stock thing is the radio.

Curb weight is listed as 3057lbs. That's with everything except people and cargo, IE, it includes spare tire, oil, coolant, full tank of gas, etc...
Hommer is right, all that dirt a grime and grease adds up... So do non-OEM tires/rims...

300 pounds, i don't think so. i think they listed it as lighter to help it sell. you know, help the power to weight ratio. my cherokee has stock size tires and those are the wheels that came on it. the interior is bone stock the exhaust is stock. i'm telling you, this is a totally stock cherokee. and the scales calibrated, its an army scale used for weighing trucks bringing in or out stuff. all our stuff is calibrated by some group that meets the criteria for some standard (sorry, cannot remember the name, i no longer do calibration so i forgot all that stuf)

3386 is closer. My 86 Laredo weighed 3400 with a winch. But it was 2.8L and 5 sp. You have to add a few hundred for the 4.0 and auto

my pictures are on a scale. i work on a military base and we have scales on the way off base.
my jeep is barely in the upper limit for a cherokee. the cherokee is one of the lightest suv and makes a great power too. i love how if you get one with the 3.73 rear end in it you can embarrass the street racers by smoking them light to light. my wife's 95 used to kill my buddies 99 v6 mustang. he thought it was so fast but her cherokee and my little 325i blew the doors off that poor little mustang

True story, not only are XJs lighter, make more power and faster than a 4.0L Exploder or a Blazer....they'll put just about anything else to shame offroad too. Ironic that XJs started the small SUV craze and not really anything has been made thats better than them. Jeep started the craze, and did it right the first time.
