I get them kinda often actually, just this morning a guy struck up a conversation with me after he got a kick out of my "My Jeep eats what your Prius saves" sticker. He was driving a rather nice completely unmolested 89 XJ.

With a 4.0 I6 that statement is very accurate.

I do get compliments, especially driving through town with the doors off
half the compliments are something along the lines of "what kind of tires are those, they are awesome"

I am one of very few in my town who DD's swampers, and fairly sure I have the only set of custom cut swampers in town, and they look awesome

Got a compliment just tonight from trick-or-treaters. The dad was like "Nice truck!"

Seems like everyone says truck. They never say Jeep.

Actually, a couple weeks ago I rolled up to the top of a wicked trail and this dude in a Defender 90 who was already there said, "Holy $#!t, did you take Gold Mine to get here?!", I said, "Yep" (Gold Mine is the only way to get there), he paused, looked at my gloating but perfectly stock '89 and said... "wow".

Is that a compliment?

Unless they have a jeep they always say truck, a while back some guy in a parking lot in his nissan pickup with 33" super swampers with........ huge mud flaps, chrome steps, chrome bumpers, chrome stinger, chrome roof light rack with lights, chrome trim, and chrome wheels on his black pickup that looked like it was just waxed said nice truck to me. I was thinking to myself ok, atleast my vehicle has gone over more than a curb.

I think the worst would be if someone said hey nice suv.
. . . .

I think having a doorless Cherokee is more of an accomplishment than a doorless wrangler. I compliment every doorless xj I see. Unless the door was ripped off

Two in one day. One by PD. He walked up. Another, while I was in bank. Wife stayed outside and went to get an ice cream. Someone walked up and said either you or your husband did a good job on the jeep. She replied, my husband. But, ya, its pretty cool. Normally, its just a thumbs up as a Jeep passes.
