Engine Swap on a 2000 cherokee sport 4.0
2000 Cherokee Engine swap? Please Help... I am buying a used 2001 4.0 for my 2000 cherokee and i understand there is issues with head cracking between 3 and 4 cylinder in both years...anyone know which steel head will work on a 2001 4.0 ???? without too many alterations?

The head is a 0331 head...... they started using it in 2000.
In 2002 they redesigned it and got ride of the weak area. You cannot use a older head without doing some fab/bracket work for the coil rails.
You can find NEW replacement heads on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-J...Q5fAccessories
from clearwater cyl head in fla. or you can call Alabama cylinder head.
Your local Cyl head shop should also be able to get a New casting 0331.
It would be wise to go ahead and change it out, much easier with the motor out.
