Default Engine grounds

On the right side of the block right below the head about 6" back from the distributor, there is a ground post. There are 3 wires grounded to this post, (black with tan stripe, black with white stripe and black with orange stripe). Does anyone know exactly what each individual wire is for? Only 1 out of the 3 were hooked up on my 95 4.0 auto.

95 XJ, 4 litre I-6, auto with a/c, 4-X. It's a plain jane cherokee. No gauges or tac, only idiot lights in dash, manual windows, locks etc.

Cool

black/tan and black/white are the ignition grounds(sparks and injector pulse. The other one ,black/orange is trans related. This is a shared ground , but these wires are also spliced and ground on two other places, back of the intake and the body on the driver and passenger side.

Thanks. The black/white and black/orange never were hooked up on my cherokee. It's been running fine for many miles and just recently I'm having an engine miss/cutout while driving that has me stumped. I used a jumper wire to ground the 2 exposed leads straight to the battery and this didn't seem to cure my problem. Now every once in a while it will just die at idle and will start right back up again. I'm wondering if hooking them up had anything to do with it.
