Default Engine gone bad in need of a replacement!!

4.0 242 CI Straight 6, this is in an 01 Grand Cherokee Limited. Not 100% sure what exactly is bad but there is most certainly a catastrophic failure and Im in need of an Engine. If anyone has suggestions on who /what /where to look please respond. Like most of us out there money is rather hard to come by at this point so I was hoping that the JEEP community would have some suggestions. I'm not looking for a hand out simply a few hopeful suggestions. Thanks all in advance for taking the time to read and respond...

Good luck, seriously. Lots of guys looking for WJ era 4.0L's and used prices are reflecting that. Your best bet is finding a wreck/bad trans donor if buying a reman'd engine is out of reach.

yea unfortunately I am seeing that as I search around. I did find a local reputable company who has a long block for 1950.00 with a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty, common I know but what draws me to them is the warranty covers 100% of of the cost for anything that goes wrong including shop time parts labor etc to any shop of my choosing. I don't know if you or anyone else is familiar with them or their products but here is a link http://www.dahmerpower.com/ should anyone care to take a look.

@ OverlandJZ, Thanks for always having fast responses and your willingness to help, you answered a few questions for me last week in the same manor and TBH its what got me back to this site, between you and the rest of the community here, it will keep this great site going for a long time..

I know this is gonna cost me, but its an immaculate Jeep and my wife loves it I just need to be able to make my wallet agree. I'm just trying to see if, since this is a Jeep site anyone has any leads on a reputable co with good prices and good products. I know you get what you pay for but in these times some are willing to adjust to the times.

I'v bought a rebuild from Jasper in the past, 3 year warranty and i had to use it.

Oil pump failed after 2+ years and i had a new engine dropped off within 10 days, they also covered the labor.

I got lucky and found a reman'd engine out of a wreck awhile back that had a reported 15K miles, i paid $750 for it. The Mrs loves her WJ also so in the long run it was cheaper than a new Jeep.
