Never said that...just that there will be waste product of some form or another..."clean energy" isn't clean, nobody ever talks about the elephant in the room when it comes to hybrid cars, like lithium ion batteries...nasty stuff in there, too, and when all these hybrids reach their end of life, now they have tons of toxic waste to get rid of. Sure the air is cleaner, but now you need to worry about groundwater contamination, and carcinogens in the soil. Cause and effect, the trick is finding a happy medium everyone can agree with...

[QUOTE="N20jeep;2640846"]My issue would be life. I'm out wheeling 8-12 hours at a time in places you cant just plug in
There are ways to take care of that issue. This is more theoretically speaking but I feel like there is a future in perpetual motion.

well I see that Tesla uses a CV axle style but I would prefer to stick with the great articulation provided by the straight axle in jeeps. what kind of ideas do you have?

If you wanted a straight axle you could always modify the axle so the motor sits where the diff typically would. I hope you have loads of batteries so you don't get stuck out in the wilderness somewhere without the ability to charge sans maybe a few volts of solar charging on the roof or something.

Yeah the biggest issue with replacing the pumpkin with a motor is hitting it on rocks and such, unless you have one hell of a skid made for it. Solar charging would be nice but would take days unless the whole Jeep was made of solar panels.
