Default Electric fan shorting out?

My Jeep was overheating last week, hubby replaced the radiator, water pump, thermostat and the serpentine(sp?) belt. Ran fine until today. Started overheating again. Turns out the electric motor only comes on sporadically. Has this happened to you? You know the worse part of this to me? Having to drive another vehicle, I miss my Jeep already. Just looking for company to sulk with.

The electric fan is meant to come on when the temp gets up to 210° to keep it from getting hotter.

It only comes on sporadically even when it's over 210, got all the way to 260 and wasn't coming on.

Turns out it was a defective thermostat, we had just installed a new one last week. Good that it's simple fix but irritating to buy a defective part

I didn't think the thermostat was electrical in anyway. So my guess is that your fan still isn't working, but now that your thermostat works you don't need a fan. You'll find out for sure if you're ever idling in traffic for 30 minutes on a hot day.

Let me guess, your air conditioner does not work.

What I was going to get at was the electric fan logic goes through the air conditioner. If your air condition is inop it could take the fan down with it.
