Hello all. I've a few questions that I haven't been able to find a satisfactory answer from as I've been lurking for a bit. I'm in the market for an XJ to replace my 2000 2WD WJ (booooo) and have seen a few on the ol' CL that are rigged for a tow bar. This has me wondering, after discussing with my local Jeep owning buddies, if the miles on the odometer are inclusive of the towed miles and what sort of difference in wear to the driveline and engine it causes. Secondly, what sort of damage or deformation should I look out for due to poorly installed or maintained tow bar setups. I apologize in advance if my search efforts sucked and I missed something that already answers my questions.

If it was towed with the tcase in neutral, then there shouldn't be any damage. The odometer won't show additional wear to the axles and wheel bearings etc. I think the tcase would have disengaged the trans, so that shouldn't have additional mileage on it. I might be wrong, all that stuff is kind of black magic to me.
When these jeeps was new a lot of them was towed behind big rvs as a get around town car.Now the rvs are old and used up they sell them and the jeep.Like said the mileage only covers what its been drove,Whats its been towed you'd never know the real answer.
