Default Dumped TreadWrights & Bought Interco's

Well after 5,000 miles I dumped my TreadWright BF Goodrich look alike 31/8/15's. I did NOT like these tires from day 1 as the width is supposed to be 10.5 but is actually 8 inches. They wore down way too fast for the 5,000 miles I put on them and had to balance them 2 times (did not throw a weight) b/c of the way they wore. I had other tires on (Good Year Wranglers) and they wore perfect for the 15,000 I put on them. I just ordered 4 Super Swamper TrXus STS 29/10.5/15's with 4 Cragar Black Widow rims mounted, balanced and shipped with 20 steel lug nuts (all steel not acorn) and 4 cragar center caps for $880 (this is the best price I found after looking for a month or so) from Summit Racing. I hope these wear better than the TreadWrights...Anyone have any knowledge of how these tires are??...Tj

They should wear evenly, but you will NOT get the mileage out of them that you should expect from an AT. HTH!!

Sorry to hear you had a bad time with the Treadwrights. I have been considering getting a set of their 31" or 33" MTs and most folks seem to have had an ok time with their Treadwrights.. You'll be real happy with you Swampers though, alot of folks run them around here and aside from being a bit noisy they are excellent tires, and they usually measure out to be very close to the advertised size, unlike many manufacturers. I just hope I don't wind up with 33x10.5 Treadwrights instead of 33x12.5 since they gave you 8" wide ones instead of 10! Very strange...

good luck getting miles out of the sts. friend has them on his dodge, you can tell when he drives the thing on the road, cause you can see how much the road tears the hell out of them. yes his trucks designated for sled pulling but its also streetable, and he drives it now and again on the street. those tires arent that great on the street, as far as wear goes.

should've bought the trxus M/T rather than the STS, unless you're driving in sand...

I just looked up the Treadwright tire your looking at and seen that they are in fact 10.2's. Here is the link, look under "Width" http://treadwright.com/shopNowresult...9&submit1.y=13 ...Tj

Do you have some pictures of the odd wear pattern?? I was considering them for a project and I would like to see the wear.

I had them in that exact size. I bought them because I liked the tread pattern and my XJ was a street rig. The did have a nice hum to them going down the road, they were great in the snow and in the rain. The balanced okay, but no matter how many times they were balanced, I still had a noticeable vibration on the white steelies. I swapped them out for some stock steelies and they balanced much better.

On to some pics.
