You're set with a proven time and time again set up. Unless you're trying to do some extreme crawling/ wheeling you'll be ready for some DD and part time fun.

What size tires are you running? With my 235/75-15 tires, my D30 and D35 are holding up fine, and I wheel my Jeep hard. Once I bolt the 33's I have on it, I'll start worrying about the axles, mostly the D35 rear. I wouldn't worry much then if I had the 8.25 though.
The NP231 is by far the best transfer case Jeep put in the XJ, I wouldn't worry about it at all. I'd only swap transfer cases if I had the 242.

Your good now but once you lift it higher or bigger tires you need upgrades then.

They could have a few ratios. 3.07, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10, and 4.56. The most common ratios seem to be 3.07 (4.0 5 speed), 3.55 (4.0 auto), and 4.10 (2.5 5 speed).

On both front and rear? I would say you have the "semi rare" towing package
