Default DRAS corpoate rear axle?

Greetings (as my Uncle Sam used to say), everyone --
Anyone have a view or opinion of the DRAS corporate rear axle? Good, bad, or indifferent?
My 2000 XJ Sport has it, and apparently it was an option. Got me curious.
BTW just passed annual vehicle inspection with no problems at all. Good to go. See you.

That is the Chrysler 8.25" Your 2000 model will have the 29-spline version. 1996 and earlier use the 27-spline (axle shafts)
Standard equipment on the XJ and other jeep models. Good axle.
The DRAS reference has to do with build codes.

Great axle. You certainly can upgrade to a Dana44 if you want, but in my opinion, it's not worth it, unless you are going all the way to a D60. I've got the same exact axle on my rig, untrussed, with 35's and 7.5" on the rear and have run it HARD. Not a problem AT ALL.

It's a solid axle that will hold up just fine to about 35" tires. Beyond that you will want to think about swapping out to something larger.

Tnks to you too, Thebyus. Will leave it alone. 'Great axle' is comfort zone stuff and good to know.
My XJ is all stock, and can generally handle about 50% of my driving time in Selectrac 4L on a rugged mud-and-rock forest right-of-way.
