Default doors lock automatically problem

I'm having trouble with my 02 jeep grand Cherokee locking the doors by itself even when key is in ignition. When you park and turn off jeep and get out when you close the door it will lock itself up even when key is in ignition. Has anyone had this problem or can point me in right direction to fix this. Thanks in advance.

How is the car locking you out and the keys in a safety feature? Does it prevent accidents by stranding you?

My point is you fail at reading comprehension, think you know what people are talking about, then offer up useless information.

According to what the op actually wrote, it happens "even if the key is in the ignition." That means it happens when the key isn't in the ignition too. Regardless of either point, the driver/operator should be in charge of locking the doors, the car shouldn't randomly lock them.

Having doors that lock when you shift out of park or when you reach a certain speed is a safety feature. Having doors that randomly lock on their own is a malfunction.

OP, how are you with electrical? Do you have a meter? You're gonna have to troubleshoot the circuit, it could be many things. Check the wires going from the chassis through the door and make sure none are chaffed or broken. Check your switches on your door panel, maybe something is wonky in there causing it to trigger when you open/shut the door. Might be a bad relay. You just don't know until you get in there and start digging. Most importantly DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY before attempting anything. Good luck.
