Default Door hit a car

So on this lovely New England storm cell, my wife opened the passenger door on my xj. The wind grabbed the door pretty good and It hit this lady's car and from what I can tell, it was mostly my paint rubbed off onto hers, with the exception of a slight dent. Naturally the lady blew off the handle... You'd a thought I ran over her hood or something. So anyway... Here is a couple picks. I mean she really went crazy on us. She even refused to trade insurance information. My agent talked to her and basically said if she doesn't comply then she can't file the claim. She ended up giving it to her and moved on. I just wanted to ask you guys if you might have a clue on what kind of premium increase I could be looking at? I'm not worried about my xj, the scuff were already there.

I would have tried to give her a little cash then call my insurance. She sounds like the type to have the whole damn door repainted

It's a Benz so of course she went crazy. Neither car was being driven so that sometimes falls under the same category as vandalism or a shopping cart hitting the car. You might not even get dinged by your insurance.

She could insist on a new door and a complete match to that side of car to blend the paint in, after all that ain't no VW for sure or 20 yrs. old.

small as that scratch and dent is, it will probably run about $600 to fix.

Take it to the Dealership where it was bought body shop and see where the price goes. My wife scraped a light pole concrete in a WalMart parking lot and had to have one used door and one dent pulled on the rear plus a bedside Ford F-350 Crew Cab Power Stroke 7 yrs. old dealer body shop $13,900 with 1 new door, cheap place where I had the work done $8,500.

R&R on light post $2100............

You're a lot more honest than me cause I'd have bolted out of there like a scalded dog. Wouldn't have felt good about it but staying and admitting, as you have found out, sometimes isn't worth the effort.

A non moving incident. If you don't have a bad driving record already your probably fine.

I'm not expecting a big deal from my insurance as I have no record at all, no accidents, no tickets. The wife however... But seriously it will be ok I think. We are an "At-Fault" state. I looked into that thanks for the feed back everyone.

Just keep your wife in the back and you could have avoided this situation.
