I honestly haven't looked into them that extensively seeing as I don't have the money for them. Or maybe run the electric version of the Ox and you still have that drive away key as backup. This video gives a pretty good run down on the top brands.

That video is one of the best explanations and breakdowns of the different options out there. I always link people with questions to that video.

Im not too fond of the electrical actuation of the ox locker, it works but theres an awful lot of moving parts.

If I were going with an electric locker it would be the Eaton eLocker, Eaton also makes Detroit Lockers. All in all there products are top rated in most all testing and an old company to boot.

As for the OX they make a good product from what I have heard front people running them as far as dependable. The manual version is an excellent choice as no other power supply required electrical or air.

I agree that the best choice for the selectable in in the front because you can unlock it when in 4wd you need to make tight turns and such quickly, I have that problem with my Detroit in the front.

I did a little reading and found that the Ox cable lockers had some serious problems when first starting but have since made major improvements. Looks like trail tests have proven it bulletproof thus far. It looks like they also make it for the Chrysler 8.25 now too. Wondering though... Ox boasts that theyre the only place that makes the cover from the same grade steel (8620?) as the ring and pinion. From what I understood the ring and pinion are made from a harder alloy and therefore more brittle. Wouldn't that make the cover more susceptible to cracks?....

I understand its a marginal concern. Just curious of your thoughts.

Btw thank you for your quick responses

After watching a video I have to agree. Wasn't what I imagined.

I read an interesting comment on that video. Someone said you know those ARB video showing how there locker is stronger than brand X. There is not one comparing ARB and OX. Maybe they didn't have time lol. Not bashing ARB. No doubt they are a good choice also.

Fourwheeler did that shoot out between diff covers literally. The OX was the 2nd best if you are driving into a battle field. Guess that has some merit on how it will handle the rocks.

Mine are HD ribbed aluminum covers with a drain plug also to drain if you have in water, but I still pull the cover 2 times a year to check everything.

So far the only thing that has happened to mine are scratched and dinged like you would expect on any cover. The front takes most of the damage as such.

You tap your drain plug yourself?
