Default Did I get hosed?

I recently purchased a 1994 Jeep Cherokee Country Auto, bone stock with 170,000 miles. Bad paint, bad headliner and mismatched rims. On the plus side brand new tires, no leaks, no smoke and no rust. I paid about $1,900 all said and done.

I had thought it was a good deal, but than I read on this forum about some of the XJ's people bought for far less than I paid with a lift, tires, etc.

Sounds about average. Not a great deal and not a bad deal in my opinion. It also really depends where you live. If you live in a big city like where Im at cars always seem a little bit more expensive. I paid 1500 for my 90 model with quite a few problems. Only thing going for it was a new engine.

I wouldn't have paid more than about $1200 myself, then again these are going up in price again lately.

Funny, I tend to look for a solid unibody more so than anything mechanical. Much easier to fix replace mechanical problems than it is to fix a badly rusted unibody imo.

a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it...

$1900, would you feel better if you paid $1600, my point is a couple hundred bucks is not a deal breaker IMO

You can inspect a lift like you can anything else. Its not like only lifted vehicles have problems from previous owners.

People buy lifted jeeps cheap because theyre more than likely beat to hell from wheeling/hunting. Always try and buy stock and build it yourself unless you know what your looking at and you get it cheap.

People beat them whether they're on road or off. When it comes down to it you'll never really know what a PO did. Best you can do is be knowledgeable and inspect everything prior to a purchase. If you know what you're looking at and what to look for it really doesn't matter if it's purchased or not.

Regardless, you're still going to end up fixing PO woes. There are some great deals out there on stuff that's already built or partially built since aftermarket parts don't carry much value after being installed.
