However, all is not lost. It can run again with a bit of effort - and you do have a great excuse for a new front bumper with lots of beef

Yeah I am sure most of us have had offers on our jeeps. I have been offered 8000 for mine when I didnt want to sell but i said yeah to it and then when it came to talkin about it he didnt want to pay 8000. he didnt want to pay anything more then 2000. Just because someone offers 1000 doesnt always mean you will get that. just fix it up. your xj is far from fair condition.

Well still in the process of fixing my "totaled" 91, it had the from end smashed from the side.
From what I seen happened to mine I can almost guarantee that the bulkhead is bent and pushed in beyond repair. It will need cut off and a donor one welded in. You could try beating it back into shape but it looks pretty pushed in.
I still say fix it, only if you have a welder and are prepared for some downtime of not having the jeep. The bolt on parts are easy, its all the stuff you find when you take off the fender header panel, etc that can be tricky.

Guys, it seems that he's right.
Fair seems to be another word for totaled.

I'll give ya 800 bucks for it... and that's being gracious.
There's tons of wrecked XJ's all over the net for way less.
Good luck which ever way you go.

Once it's fixed, sure.
Right now the engine and transmission aren't worth much of nothing considering they couldn't get you out of the Wal-Mart parking lot without running hot.
