I bought two more xjs and decided to sell my yukon and f150. So one of the cherokees will become my dd.
The problem is i cant decide what to do with it. The original plan was 6.5" with long arms and 35s. But i ended up with a set of dana 60s from a 2000 f350 srw and a set of wheels to fit them. I would aim for 8" with 37s.
Has anyone run full widths and 37s on there dd? I have to run 70-75 easily for long periods of time. I dont want to be running really high rpm's but i also dont want to be constantly shifting out of od or have problems getting up to speed. Any opinions/ experiences would be appreciated

 

As long as u run low enough gears i assume u would be ok.. Althogh i am not speaking from expierience.

 

you have 2 XJs.....why not keep one stock and DD that one instead?

 

I want an xj that can do everything. It probably wont end up being my dd but i want it to be able to.

having a dd on 37s and full width is going to kill your mpg even with decent gering for highway speed. also need to factor in what style of tire you will be dding with.

 

8" would sit too tall to be stable as a DD. cut the body, bumpstop and 37s can be done on way less lift (look at ktmracer's low COG thread)

You sure the rear is a dana 60 not the ford 10.25?

 

He'd be on full width axles... Too tall? These things aren't any taller than a Honda Accord when they're stock. Putting them in line with a full size truck on full width axles will be fine. The more important part of that equation will be to have sway bars on the thing.

Why would anyone need 37s? Takes all the fun out of wheeling. I seen a rubicon on 33s beat a beast long arm rubicon on 37s. It's all about driver skills.

I hate to tell ya, Bud, but there's just some obstacles that folks with 33's have to sit and watch.

 

Not that worried about fuel mileage. It cant get much worse than my current dd.

How so? It would be the same width with the same size tires as my current dd. And the low cog is cool for crawling but its not the route i want to go.

Pretty sure its a 60 but i didnt pay much attention. Ill take a picture when i get a chance.

I read it, i just really wanted opinions from somebody that has run 60s and 37s. It seemed that they were more on half ton stuff which i will never swap under anything. Maybe a golf cart..
