Default dash instrument cluster swap

hey all,

it never fails - you guys always know whats up!

so on my 94 manual cherokee, it came with this ****ty simple dash cluster that doesnt include a tac nor does it have a trip mileage counter - the tac is what i really dislike missing... here's a picture of the original:

So i was at a local pull yourself junk yard, and picked up a unit from somewhere in the late 80s-early 90's dash with a tac and trip counter, among other functions. i also pulled the wiring harness. will this work for my jeep? i mean, will it recognize the tac since it didnt have one factory built, or will it not work at all. i wanted to ask on here first before i tried anything and f**ked it up. Here's a pic of the new unit:

Many people have done the cluster swap. Pretty sure the biggest issue is getting the coolant temp gauge to work. I'm not an expert on this subject, but I know there are many threads out there on the topic. Search it up.

If your xj has a cable going into the cluster and the one you got did not then it won't work.

You'll have to switch out your oil pressure sensor with one made for a gauge instead of an idiot light. Less than 10 bucks.
