Yeah, it is not just something that you buy, then put together. You will need to do lots of measuring, cutting, measuring, fabbing, and measuring. Build your own brackets and links. Use heims, and take your time. You will have a few headaches, but it is well worth it in the end.

I meant brackets not breakers sorry for the confusion
It doesn't matter to me how long it will take as long as it all gets done right ( it's not my daily driver )
I have to build my own long arms for the XJ so I will make the brackets fit the ends I have for it
Also if anyone could help by letting me know what the pinion angle should be that would be much appreciated

Browse Pirate4x4.com for awhile, 1tons is pretty standard there. Dont go posting stupid questions there either cause people with just laugh at you, well they do have a non-hardcore section for newbs.
I'll collecting parts for my 1ton 96 XJ build. My goal is find a set of chevy axles (d60/14b) with stock 4.56 (to save some money) and run a 231/300 doubler. Stock 4.0 and aw4, 39-42" tires and I'm still debating on suspension. I'm thinking of leaf springs all around to save money and simplify my design, Will upgrade to 3link front and 4 link rear when i have the money. Stupid college is taking all my money and time at the moment.

Some but I want an XJ i can point and shot over basically anything i want. In MI we do have alot of mud but there are rock gardens and technical trails.
Get two jeeps
YES!!! To make 1tons work you basically need fab tools, plenty of steel and alot of free time.
My platform for 1ton's is a rusted out 96 which was my 1st jeep, there is literally no floor left in it which means less crap i have to cut away and i dont have to plate the frame from underneath. It's actually still in my gf's name cause i 'sold' it to her when she wrecked her car, she's excited to learn to weld

I know that the uni body isn't as strong as a frame
But I was planning on doing frame stiffeners and braces all along the uni body so I shouldn't have to much of a problem should i ?

So, did you ever do this swap? I have found myself with a spare D60 I just pulled out of my Sportsmobile and considering putting it under the Cherokee or just sell it and save the headache. It has 4.10's in it, so would have to re-gear the front axel if I did it. The Cherokee currently had a D44 in the rear which I'd probably be smart to just leave there.
Anyway, just curious how your's turned out.

I ended up with a nine inch rear with 4.56s but it hasn't gone under the jeep yet
If I was you I would just leave the 44 in your jeep unless you to run 44s or something huge
A truss will most likey will do just fine for you
