I never said it had a Lowe COG, but it's closer then you think, I did say my roof height was the same +\- 1/2 inch. When comparing vehicles in the same weight class equal energy is transferred to the occupants of each vehicle. I was using that as an example of how comparatively weighted vehicles perform in crash tests to show how safe the XJ is relative to those said vehicles.
We are talking about possibilty of a rollover. You might want to reread this thread I guess and see what it is you did say rather than correcting me.

Jesus christ guys...
Any SUV will tip easier than a Car... thats a friggin Given. Cherokee will flip easier than a 3 series BMW or a Ford focus.
But the XJ is not EASY to flip, it will if you drive it like a car. But you dont see guys driving their Honda civics offroad then wondering why its all frigging broken do you? So if you're worried about your XJ flipping... dont drive it like a honda civic.
End of story if his dad wants to be ignorant let him. Who cares? Stop getting all bent out of shape.

If your dad is worrying about you flipping a vehicle, then it sounds like you both aren't ready for you to be on the road yet IMHO

Also, the original post was made so long ago and the OP didnt chime in at all. Leads me to beleive that he ended up getting something else. So all this thread is good for now is for us to argue about the obvious.

My first XJ (1987 with 3" & 31's) was a good handler - the BFGs stuck to the ground, the Rancho 3" kit was actually rather tight, and I carried most of my "essential gear" low to the floor (I added about 300#, but added it as ballast as well, which further improved handling & COG.)
Bought it from my boss, who then bought himself a 30th Anniversary Camaro RS (we both won - I wanted the Jeep. He wanted the space in his garage for the F-body.)
We worked in Fremont, and we lived about two miles apart in San Jose. We'd often play "bumper tag" (old-style - you actually had to reach out and touch the vehicle with your hand to score a tag!) on the way home nights, and I definitely scored on him more than he did on me.
And no, I didn't leave the road to evade.
Is an XJ easier to flip than an F-body or Y-body? Sure - higher COG, rides about three times higher off of the ground.
Is an XJ "easy to flip?" Not if you know what you're doing. Take it easy at first, get used to your vehicle. I think I've broken 90mph twice, when you add it all up and figure fifteen years in five rigs. But, once you get used to the handling of the thing, it gets a lot easier to do some pretty amazing things...
(It probably doesn't hurt that I've been through EVOC three times - once in an XJ, in fact, and once in a K5. The other was in a Crown Vic. So, my opinion may be a bit slanted...)
