I've never flipped mine or even came close to it on paved roads with a 6.5 lift on 33's.
I could take corners pretty hard with out a sway bar.
They stick to the road pretty good with good tires and suspension.

The XJ uni frame and suspension have been almost exactly the same from 84-01 if there were problems they would have made modifications or changes along the way I would imagine. Just by the nature of the beast an SUV is top heavy and can tip or roll under circumstances that most vehicles would not with that being said you would have to drive like an idiot in my opinion to flip an XJ which I can say because I have rolled mine but I was driving off road like an idiot at the time! "drinking and driving can be bad off road too!" won't do that again.

Now my dad doesn't want me to get one, so what should i tell/show him to show him they don't.

At nite when I have the road all to myself, I drive mine like a sports compact, doing 45-55mph on jug handles and not even a body flex and mine is lifted 3" with 31" tires.
My police buddies tells me that (around here in my area anyway) they see a lot of cherokee xj's get stolen cuz: 1. its easy to steal and 2. it can be driven hard on getaways and won't flip.

You could debate with your dad that Cherokees are built for creeping, not speeding. Tires are available wider just as they are higher. Wheel spacers will be needed which screws scub radius but provides a wider stance. Since your not a drifter mobile you wont need to worry about the scrub radius. You drive it like a jeep, not a porche.
You can pull you dad out of the snow in the winter and be able to 4x4 thru troubled weather in case of an emergency. If the Cherokee XJ was dangerous, how would so many soccer moms be able to sell their XJ's to rest of us.

4.5"lift on mine handes just as good as it did when stock...actually better. corners totally flat, like its on rails....and my swaybar was still disconected and i have no rear swaybar. thats what makes XJs so good, stability on and off road.
