No damage, but you'll get plenty of fumes in the cabin.

I do too. Any my 87 is broken AFTER the cat.

I still stink like exhaust when I get to work.

It really sucks.

Maybe ill put a turndown after the cat so it shoots the exhaust at the ground

Do a side dump instead.

Just plumb it out right before a rear tire. Eventually when I'm less lazy thats what I'll do.

Some will say, though, that this isn't even the best. And that a full out exhaust that goes to the rear is best.

I guess you just have to see what works for you.

I would just hate to lose some brain power because of an exhaust placement.

i like my side exit, just wish i didn't have an 01, so i wouldnt have the pre-cats on the header as well as the regular cat. would be louder on an older xj i think.

Be careful cuz if it's around a 97 andu cut the cat it'll throw te 02 sensor outta wack and you'll get way to much gas pumped into the engine. Ur gas to air ratio will be bad and it'll run lik crap.

Removing a catalytic converter is illegal. The only time you should talk about removing one is durring the replacement of the converter. All other discussion of removing a catalytic converter is not permitted on this forum.
