Custom HID Lightbar
I need some ideas and opinion from y'all. I realize that the stock alt prob can't handle the 6, 100w off road lights I got on my lightbars but, I'm thinking of swapping the bulbs to HID's because thay draw alot less AMPs, but I'm not to sure about(A) where to mount the ballasts. (B) how to run the wires without having a cluster * * * * of wires everywhere. (C) if my theory is right bout the alt and HID's and lastly. (D) how once the ballasts are mounted, wherever, sealing them so that water and mud wont phase them when they get covered or rained down on. My Idea was to maby mount the ballasts on the inside roof?!?!?!? And I know I could if I had to probaly buy an aftermarket alt like a heavy duty one, but I'm just looking for some advice and opinions here thanks y'all.

theres not really 1 right/easy way to go about what ur trying to accomplish
HID fogs would be sweet...brighter, last longer, & do use less power....but u gotta factor cost of converting halogen to hid & ballasts
start here....watts/volts = amps.....600w/12v = 50A (if u plan on using the all 6 at the same time)
not sure what the amperage output of ur 91 is, might be 90A....at idle, or low RPM's, it'll output about 60-70% of its max, enough to let the battery run the basic essentials (fuel pump, spark plugs/distributor, sensors, etc) & provide adequate charge at the same time......so, you're right in thinkin ur alt wont handle the fogs additional 50A draw...but u really dont need the rears on at the same time as the fronts do u??....so run them to separate switches to spread the load....4 front, 2 rear
i see u also have a winch.....that bad boy draws a lot when in use....prolly wouldnt even be able to use it with the lights on
u could get away with it, but u will be straining ur alt & battery....u could look into what alternators swap into ur year....my 98's got 136A from a grand cherokee
just like wheelin, many different routes, choose wisely

Yea I know it's going to be difficult but it would be so bad when it's done I think just alot of custom fab required.

I have done many HID conversions on kc lights w/ a slim line ballast. I will try to gather up so pics and do one on a thread so everyone can see how easy it is. Trust me when I say it's well worth the hassle.

just so you are also aware
HID in a Halogen housing is not going to be very efficient.... HID need a specific light pattern to operate correctly, sure it will work but it will be money NOT well spent.
get an 136amp alt from a grand cherokee....
