Is this a cruise control sensor??







Whatever it is, it's broke, can't think of any other reason for it other than cruise control. It joins a short speedo cable from the t-case (about 6-8" long) and the rest of my speedo cable which runs to the speedo head. Without this little contraption, speedo don't work. Don't care of cruise works ever again(never did anyways), but like to have a working speedo. I've called the dodge house, checked every other part place in town and coming up empty handed. Part is obsolete. If anyone can verify what the part is, tell me where I can get parts or anything, I would greatly appreciate it

 

It is the speed sensor for the cruise control. They used the same sensor on XJ, MJ, CJ, full-size Jeeps, and 87-90 YJ's, as well as some Eagle and AMC cars. Pretty tough piece to find from my experience. If you really don't want cruise, you could just get the 1 piece speedo cable for one without cruise and replace your 2 cable parts with it.

 

True enough. Here is the fix : remove the 6" cable from tcase, connect main cable direct to tcase. Problem solved. Thanks man!!

 

I wasn't sure if the one piece was long enough for that, but sounds like it was. Glad you got it going.

 

Ya. There is a tiny clamp that I had to undo to get enough slack in the cable but it worked...really wanted to get the cruise working someday...oh well I guess, at least my speedo works.
