Default Craigslist Cherokee vs. Grand Cherokee

Maybe it's just my area, but when I search for "Jeep Cherokee", there are far more Grands for sale than XJs. I was really bored, so I did searches for individual years starting 1993 (when the Grand Cherokee was first introduced) and ending 2001 (last year of Cherokee production). Here are the results:

1993 - 2 XJ, 2 ZJ
1994 - 3 XJ, 7 ZJ
1995 - 1 XJ, 4 ZJ
1996 - 1 XJ, 36 ZJ
1997 - 12 ZJ
1998 - 4 XJ, 10 ZJ
1999 - 1 XJ, 39 WJ
2000 - 2 XJ, 30 WJ
2001 - 3 XJ, 15 WJ

I did my best to account for spammed vehicles. For instance, for 1997, there were 64 results. 52 of them were the same vehicle. And in 1999 there were 57 results, and 17 of them were the same 2 vehicles.

So it seems that people are either desperate to get rid of their Grands or reluctant to give up their XJs. Is it the same in your area?

Yup. Way more ZJ's and WJ's than XJ's. More WJ's than ZJ's too.

You can. Just type Jeep Cherokee -grand. Typing -grand excludes any results including the word "grand".

Way more ZJ's... About a 8/1 ratio ZJ/XJ.

About the same here. Which is why my son and I both have ZJ's. Parts availabilty and all that.

Two large dogs, wife, canoe, camping gear and 6'3" inches of fat American rule out the XJ.
