The other day it was 90+ degrees while sitting in stop and go traffic and my trans temp gauge was higher than I'd ever seen it, but not high enough for concern.
I try to be good to the jeep. I realize I'm asking a lot of it pushing those big tires all the time and I don't like doing it but regearing just isn't in the cards at the moment.

The trans temps only climb when the torque converter isn't locked. The jeep would much rather be in 2nd at 3k+ rpm than in 3rd with the torque converter unlocked. The other day it was 90+ degrees while sitting in stop and go traffic and my trans temp gauge was higher than I'd ever seen it, but not high enough for concern.

Yeah I feel you on the money deal but had wondered that before that's a real PITA with the hills and all. I remember all to well mine on 33's with the 3.55 gear, it came from the PO with 31's on it when I bought it.

Unfortunately I'm at a point in my life where it's becoming harder to put the time and money into the jeep that I want to. As of right now I'm broke, but just started working a good paying job for the summer. I'll be up about $7k in August but then I'm back to school and have no way of working on the jeep. I really want to do full case lockers at the same time as gears, but then I start thinking about frame and axle reinforcement. Before all this I want to complete a WJ knuckle swap with OTK steering. Everything is snowballing to the point where it's overwhelming to think about. Gears have been put on the back burner for now. I'll get to them eventually.

I've used these same exact charts when planning my Cherokee build (and when I was planning on buying and building a CJ7 just before I found my Cherokee). I am still surprised that opted to skip such a common size tire as the 33".Originally Posted by JRPCHAMELEON
