Anybody ever swap a newer style (2000 with cup holders) console into an earlier (1995 no cup holder) XJ? I know the e-brake is closer to the driver but the auto shifter and transfer case levers should be in the same location. Could the e-brake lever be swapped along with the newer console?

 

Do you want to do this swap just for the cup holders? they have factory cup holders for your current console...

yes, all the early cup holders are shall we say not up to holding my wifes dunkin donuts ice tea and the restriction to the e-brake and mirror switches are out of the question. Looks like the console will switch, it was just a matter of the newer type e-brake being able to fit into the earlier body. I have the add on side mounted cup holder now but is not trust worthy and I didnt want to screw it in place because it restricts passenger space. And I always did like to mix and match, I just cant help myself. I enjoy fabrication.

 

yea my old xj had the stock cup holders and i rarely used them cuz id turn a corner and the drink would fall out :P
