I have a 96 xj 4.0 and it has the ax 15 manual in it how do I change the clutch/tranny lfuid on this beast this is the first manual cherokee i've owned...

Also if anyone who reads this is any good at fabricating What is a good thickness of the steel I could use without having too much weight added to the front end?

I usually just leave the clutch fluid alone until its time to replace the clutch or the hydraulics fail.

Fluid for the clutch master and fluid in the gearbox are two different things. What so you want to change?

Changing tranny fluid alone there's a fill plug on the driver side by the slave cylinder and drain plug on pass side, filling it through the side can be a pita, how I've done this to refill.. I removed the fill plug and the shifter and filled it through the top till it started pouring from the fill plug.
Pack it up and your done.

Btw I used ATF and a little bit of Lucas.

Thanks man. Honestly I just wanted to change it because I bought the jeep from someone else and I don't trust other peoples maintenance abilities. So I really wanted to just do it to do it. haha but the PO said that he just replaced the tranny transfer case and rebuilt the motor before I bought it. and it deffinetly drives like it's all brand new. but I just wanted to do some preventive maintenance..

Excellent plan. We've seen lots of folks buy a used XJ and just go drive it.

Then, they're pissed because the transfer case was low or full of water and it disintegrated or something.

Trust no PO.
