So I can use positions 5, 6, 9, 10, and 11 on the mode selector for heat (in the winter) without having the AC kick on. 9 and 11 are especially nice. I can activate the AC any time I want for windshield defogging (6). Just turn it back on in the summer for AC.

How did you wire up the ac bypass switch?
That is a major gripe of mine, not being able to use the other positions without the ac turning on.

Refer to pic below.

Cut the 20 Gauge Light Green wire and splice in two new wires that will be routed and connected to an on/off switch. When your switch is turned 'off' it essentially does the same thing as removing the low pressure cycling switch connector (on top of AC Accumulator).

How is the switch holding up? Any photos of how you modified the lighter to remove the resistance coils and get the switch to work?

The first one I made worked great I just pulled the coils out and filled it with solder, the second one I made isn't working as well. I didn't like the way the first one looked. I'm going to redo the one I have now sometime. Also, don't have any pictures but I can take some this weekend or something.

That would be awesome. I am wanting to use my cigarette lighter as a switch as well. Also how did you get it to not stay in when you press it?

Bent the side clips out so they don't grab it anymore

.
Damn, this should be in a sticky somewhere.

Always been a huge gripe of mine, just never thought to bypass the AC switch. That way I can still use it in the spring when it is humid as heck out, but I don't have to deal with the belt chirping or any loss in power randomly when I am cranking through the mountains

I am curious as to what positions 1 through 4 are though...

1 thru 4 are the blower speed settings.
