chopped and caged
so the body on the jeep is royaled effed so i was considering doing somthing along the lines of this.

so i went down and showed a fab guy and he quoted me $1200-$1500. sound like a good deal? he will be doing only the cage work nothing else.
forgot to mention mine would still have the front doors, windshield, and roof over the two front seats

idk, its barely a XJ then, like those guys that take some peices off a wrongler body and put them on some hybrid super crawler frame, and still try to say its a jeep. its just weird, not to mention your paying for all your work to be done like alot of wrongler guys... idk to me it seems like the cheap way out...
AoA- i understand ur point. i mean i would only really use mine for mud and trails. i was just going to cut everything off like in the pic but without the cage and drive it like that but i was scared that when i hit a mud hole the unibody would fold like a taco

This is a sweet idea if you have the coin. I have seen a few caged out Cherokees on the trails here. You can still tell they are an XJ base but are now totally BAMF

it wouldnt if you reinforced it, and to reinforce doesnt always mean to cage it
If you use it for mud then I would be cautious as to what you cut off or you will have a very messing Jeep with even the slightest amount of mud. You did say you'd keep the windshield, roof and doors...I think that's smart if you think you will hit any mud or be in colder weather.

While they are making the cage you should have them put frame stiffiners on and have them run the cage into that. It will take place of the unibody you cut off.
i know cherokees dont have frames. i know they are unibodies?
i dont care if mud gets everywhere. thats the fun part. being all muddy and not caring while ur throwing mud sky high

Also you might wanna delete this thread on pirate. They will pretty much give you no help. Especially since your buying and not building, and you posted in a hardcore area which is for built and not bought stuff... just trying to save you some flame
