"Ladies and gentlemen, we gather here today, not to mourn the loss of another xj, but to celebrate the life it led, and the life it will lead to. The death of this xj will not be in vain... parts priced at a reasonable rate will ensure that its spirit will keep another xj from an untimely demise...god bless amc, jeep, 35's, and those guys who designed the 4.0, amen."

Start taking off the pieces you like, body panels and all. Then go find one with rusty doors, blown motor etc and put your parts on that.

I dont think you want to go down the road your thinking about lol.

you are going to have to go to your local junkyard and cut the metal you need out of another jeep or ask someone from down south to cut the metal you need out.. show them the pictures then you have to pull out your whole interor and get to work... do you know how to weld? because one bad pothole and your done...

first question i would ask is what kind of welding experience do you have, second does NY have annual inspections or something cause if so even if you were to go through repairing that it likely wont pass unless done by a welder certified to do frame work.

back to my first question, the unibody frame is thin and given the amount of rust unless your a seriously skilled welder your going to be blowing through and doing more damage than repair.

given how mint that body is i can understand the not wanting to part with it but im honestly surprised those front LCAs havent parted ways with the rest of the jeep, bottom line that shell is ****ed, jeeps are not expensive for the amount of work it would take to fix that you could buy another jeep and swap your rust free parts over in less time and have the piece of mind knowing your not going to die when you hit a pothole

Don't Panic! Take it to a reputable body shop for an estimate. (then panic) It may not be as bad as you think. If the estimate is way too high for you, try another less reputable shop. That IS a fine looking Jeep.. I'd give it every chance.

Longarms or bust. The only way of safely salvaging that jeep is by attaching the front axle to a non rotted place. I'm surprised its still on the road. Don't drive that anywhere till you get that fixed.

For the rear, I would get some 1/4 steel channel, and slide it over the frame rails (after rust converting everything). Then bolt it on, and weld it as well. I think like that you might be able to salvage the rear.

My 98 came with undercoating.
Also, I don't live in the rust belt. :P

To the OP: scrap it and buy a new one if you don't know how to weld or aren't willing to learn.
