Default Cherokee hidden compartment?

Just a thought running through my head... I have a 2000 jeep Cherokee and I always keep spare cash, my iPad, phone, and wallet in my jeep so I'll never leave home without it. Has anyone every made a creative "hidden" compartment for a later model Cherokee?

My friend had a 2010 camry before a tree hit it and it had like a drawer type thing (ashtray maybe) to the left of the steering column, i thought about doing something like this on the ashtray trim piece on the XJ but i really dont know how. I think there is a good bit of space there but idk how to make a drawer thing or a cubby enclosure

I know its not the cheapest way or home made mod but find yourself an automotive gun lockbox or something along those lines and bolt it down somewhere. Ive seen them hung under the dash on either side (driver/ passenger)

There's a huge amount of empty space below the center console if you're good with cutting into the plastic.

If you open the glove box and take the rubber tabs off theirs a good bit of space behind the box to the right

I noticed that when running my amp wiring. Had an idea of cutting a little hinged door close to the driver's seat and bolt down a tray or something to keep items stationary. Just a thought though, haven't put it on paper yet.

Doesn't seem like it would be too difficult... just gotta make sure you stay out of the way of all of the linkages and what-not for the t-case and tranny.

Under the console like everyone said. My friend's old GMC yukon had an accidental hidden storage. The cupholders broke off the console and a huge open space was under it.

If you pull the center dashboard bezel off, and remove 1 or 2 screws on the right there is a pocket next to the passenger airbag. It is nearly impossible to pull the bezel off in park. Its where I kept my "wallet" back in the HS days

whats wrong with the glove box.... it has a lock on it. i keep all my stuff in their.

and i keep my ''balloons'' under the housing around transfer case shifter that pops out, most people dont even know it pops out... and sometimes i put my wallet in my under the pop out gear selector thing.

if you want a good vehicle with hiding places, my friends 2003 f150's cup holders pop out and there is enough room under there for anything.

Assuming that an iPad would even fit in the glovebox, the only thing that plastic tumbler thing that locks it is good for is keeping it from unlatching accidentally. Nobody that just broke into the Jeep is going to be deterred much by that. The center console is just an insert that screws in... you could take the screws out and hide stuff under it.

Default Another option

Not sure about your year, but my 95 has access to the tailights behind the spare through a little pop off panel. There is a ton of room in there if you're not worried about it being accessible from the drivers seat. Plenty of space for wallet, phone, what have you.

Awesome idea! I have all that stuff just sliding around ON TOP of my seat for now. i never even thought of all that room. Especially if you have ditched the stock bottle jack. Thanks man!
