Exclamation Cherokee 4.0 keeps cutting out

Hi Guys, newbie here from not so sunny England!!

I writing this in the hope someone can help me.
I have a 96 Cherokee 4.0, which will start fine when its cold, but cut out while its getting warm, and will not restart for an hour or two, then will do the same thing. I'm a mechanic myself so repair is'nt a problem. I read several forums that say the crank sensor is at fault. I've replaced this with a genuine Jeep replacment but still the same. When it cuts out I loose power feed to the ignition coil. I have tested the asd relay, replaced coolant temp sender all to no avail. I have found that if I take a feed from the battery to the small connectors on the back of the generator I get power back to the plug that goes onto the coil, but still no spark. I'm running out of ideas and tricks to try and use the vehicle for work. When it's running is a really great motor, far better than our british 4x4's in my opinion. Can anyone point me in the right direction, before I start spending lots of money and time. I have also tried 2 PCU's.

Any advice would be really great.
Best regards Richard
oh, and happy new year
