Default Cheap winch plate

I am wanting to put a winch on the front of my XJ, but i cant offord a winch and a backbone from Detours. Parents wont let me change bumper out because this one was fixed just a week ago. Anyone know of any other cheap winch plates, i know they make them for $60 for a Tj.

you have to tie into the frame.... The TJ winch plates incorporate the frame and bumper as one unit. The backbone is your only option for keeping the stock bumper.

If you could somehow come across the factory winch option you could use that too!

You could use a front receiver hitch and put the winch in a receiver basket.

Old thread i know, but i want to do this now. Put a winch plate behind the bumper and cut out some of the bumper to put the roller. Any ideas on which winch plate would fit best. I know i might have to move the stock bumper forward a bit.

You would have to do a full custom job. And most standard 8000k winches wont fit to nicely... And you can see the stock bumper is pushed forward and there are factory delete panels on the sides just below the marker lights.

The factory one was a small 6000k winch. The best option is to remove the front bumper and start fabricating making sure to tie into the unibody "frame rails" plenty. I dont even have a winch on mine and i tied into each side 7 bolts.

Im pretty clear on how to mout the winch to the frame and i think ill have to get brackets to push my bumper out a little bit. My buddy has an 8k Warn in his frame so i know one can be put up in there.
