No questions here just thought I would share. Changed out my valve cover gasket today with some hopefull success. Pretty easy repair except that darn rear bolt. My advice is use a hinge on the ratchet. I was very pleased with how clean it was under the valve cover. My hope is that my leak is from the valve cover and not the rear main. I will know in a day or so when what ever left over oil has dripped or dried off. The old gasket was almost flat and hard. The new rubber gasket was nice thick and soft.

Yeah the 4.0 is pretty easy to work on. I did mine right after I got it, since it was leaking out the rear really bad. Ended up snapping my temp sender for the gauge off flush at the head, though.

Yep just did mine 2 days ago. The rear bolt isnt bad. i used a 1/4 in ratchet with a 6" extension, the extension has a universal type deal on it so it was easy to get to.
i didnt RTV the middle good enough though

My dang leak is still there. I changed this on monday so that should have been plenty of time for the left over oil to drip off. I guess I am looking at a rear main now. I am going to have to live with it for a little while. The odd thing is I am not showing any shortage of oil when I check it. It stays right at the full line
. I am going have to do a little investigative work around the engine. I can see a drip of oil on the bell houseing and there seems to be a thin coat of oil on the trans. pan. or at least I think thats the trans. pan I am looking at.
