Hey y'all! Finally got some two points up front (new to me Mopar yow hooks) and have yet to use them. But, I saw a picture of a Humvee over in Afghanistan in out MCJROTC class the other day? And I loved the look of the chain wrapped up front. Does anyone have any pics of their xj with chain on their tow hooks? I know this is a function over form, but since I can get free chain, this would be purely for aesthetics. Thanks!

forget the chain. i know it's purely for looks, but all noobs will see it and get the wrong impression and think chain is the way to go. or you'll get ribbed by the veteran wheelers about it. they may jerk your chain...

if you want something for looks, get a rope. it wraps better and looks better. and can be used safely if needed.

but kudos to you for installing proper tow hooks (and brackets).

Yes, rope as in a tow rope! Don't want chain anywhere near your XJ look at photos of rebuilt early military Jeeps some of them have synthetic rope with loops on both ends wrapped around the front bumper.

No. I lol'd in the middle of Math Studies. The teacher asked,"What's so funny?". I replied,"it's a jeep thing, you wouldn't understand!" he looked at me like a deer in the headlights!

My chain ain't on tow hooks yet, since I ain't got none yet, but its mostly for looks since I use a tow strap when I need to do some pulling. It was my grandfather's chain from when he drove a road tractor. I don't know if this exactly what you're looking for but here's what I've got:

Yes! Something like that! My loops would be tighter though. Thanks

That chain would clank around like crazy besides being heavy. Also how often would you actually use it. You can get a smitty built strap that's a 3"x30 ft I think for like $35 or so lighter and prob less expensive and also stronger than a chain

any chains hanging form a sweet bumper looks Badass, rope not so much although it is very much so more practical... but keeping it out and in front exposed to the elements would be quite bad for it, thats why i keep my rope and tow straps in back in side where they are safer... chain is more aesthetic then anything
