Even a stock suv that's sideways on a hill will roll over. That's bad driving on all those vids.

With center of gravity you really need to consider what their suspension is set up with.

notice that all the first 4 videos all have one thing in common. excessive use of skinny pedal. and in the first one you can clearly see he was trying to bump it because he couldn't crawl it. and why couldn't he crawl it? because HE DIDN'T HAVE A LOCKER

the last 3 were just bad situations and awful driving. especially the idiot in the white jeep who stuck his leg out

Good collection. Reminds me about that the roll cage is my next investment into the Jeep. (If I ever get around to working on it again). The guys in the 2 last clips were just asking for it, they were bored and did it on purpose. Not to mention that the white one is ridicoulously huge and unstable. Great vids.

i can't wait til this thread turns to ****.

anyway. aside from rolling, heres a couple xj's on the same obstacle, same conditions.

first up is a monster, soft, tall, suspension, 47" tires.

next up is my old xj, 4" lift or so and 37's

how about a 3" lifted xj on 33's

and just because, how about a stretched cj on 54's

which rigs made it look easier?

agreed driver skill is a huge part of these videos. Knowing how your rig will react in each situation you may encounter is very important. That and not hammering the skinny pedal.

It's hard to argue about the distinct advantage a well set up low COG rig will give you in climbs and off-camper situations though...especially for an inexperienced driver.

The jeep with 33's ruled that hill. Your old rig did good also. And is pretty much exactly what I see constantly when I wheel.

Yea about that one guy sticking his foot out. Not that I haven't stuck my arm out when I was about to roll over. Lucky for me the skinny pedal was a better answer.

It looked to me on the first one that he lost control of his clutch/brake. Dropped back several foot and the drivers side rear tire dropped in that large crevice causing him to roll.

Here is a section I attempted on one of my light wheeling days. Of course I was driving, and no video was shot of me. But a couple of rigs that failed. The stretched wrangler on 44's attempted it right before I did. I don't believe anyone made it that day(nov 3rd)

he wouldn't have had to be doing that if he had lockers. and possibly deeper gears but I don't have xray vision into his axles. it's called crawling not bumping and praying. I wish I could watch these vids but my damn work computer won't let me

LOL. Fortunately the vids are not going anywhere.

Though its called making it. And bumping often is the only way. Not saying this particular instance. But sometimes you have to hammer. Its knowing when to hammer, and when to just crawl.
It seemed like the guy was a little nervous. Maybe a little too nervous.

Regardless you have to assume the responsibility for your actions. When attempting obstacles like these you need to realize there is a risk of rolling. If your fine with that, then go for it. IF not, then in no way do it just because you saw someone else do it. No matter your set up.

That would be my advice.

here you go a video of rock crawling where you need a higher center of gravity rig

that video shows them dropping indy, which I did with my 4" lift and 35's without issue.

and them going down Patriot, which my buddy did with his 3" lift, 33's and one locker, unassisted.

You guys suck, you don't know how good you got it with that terrain close to you! I would love it. And I would be fully locked. LOL

I definitely can see where high clearance can come in handy. There is no perfect rig. I will stick with my lcg rig though and just drag bottom everywhere.

This is the best place we have in Ohio.
The first obstacle in the video my xj made pretty easy. Its all in the line choice and execution. Not as tough as this cherokee made it look.

Will be going here the 5th of january. And want to conquer jeep rock(in this video) Not much for tall wrangler. But a low xj I don't think has ever done it. I will try anyways. And will make sure to get video..

Another small obstacle on my list.

This one I have avoided because of body damage. skip to 2:00
