well its a federal law for one thing. no matter what state ur in and if u have emissions testing or not; is irrelevant. if you get caught it is atleast a 10,000 fine or more. the last time i heard, wich was about 10 years ago. so im sure its more.
every enigine needs a certain amount of back pressure. in the horse power world you need atleast 300 rear wheel h/p to justify not having one. other than that, your torq will suffer.
lastly, it is looked down upon to even be discussing this on this forum.
my cat went bad and i replced it with a magnaflow high flow cat.
its not worth it.
