Cargo area lighting
Im curious do any of the XJs have lighting in the back?
My 2 door doesnt have any lights back there, nor does it have a switch on the tailgate
was this an OEM option?
I was thinking about adding a universal door jamb switch in the metal above the taillights and maybe 1 light on the ceiling or 2 smaller lights on the side panels
Any thoughts on this?
Side note: I know the later Cherokees had this option, so can you retro-fit something to the older ones?

I tried google and just abunch of aftermarket stuff pops up
I looked in my XJ parts catalog, and it seems like the OEM switch is mounted on the latch for the lift door, so that takes care of one thing
I just need the light pod/assembly now

Standard in '93
My 93 4 dr came standard with a small light in the cargo area and a dome light with two reading lamps up front, the dome lights would only light off the front doors beeing open though...
While the cash for clunkers program was running, I went to the Bone Yards and picked up an overhead console and a sound bar for next to nothing. I mounted the dome light that used to be up front on the sound bar and and wired the rear lights so they can be turned on with the buttons rather than having to open the front door...

yea looks really sharp
I think I am going to see if mine has the switched latch and run a ground from the regular dome to it, and then if I can find a factory dome light I will mount that up and run the hot and ground from the up front dome to the new one

The best aftermarket interior lights I have tried and I used them alot in semi trucks.
I bought at wal-mart its roughly 2"x3.5"x1.5" and clear. It uses a single 1156 bulb and with the refraction of the lens its makes a great light working, reading etc.
Its in the automotive section. I don't see it on the website.

If you can find a sound bar(i know where to get one if he still has it) then you can put the factory light there as the wiring is behind the driveside c pillar
