Default Carfax report

So after using the free report that is on here, I decided to buy a Carfax to verify what I found out about my mileage. And Carfax shows so that the "P.O" bought it a week before I bought it from a car auction and the car auction reported that it had about 350,000 miles on it at the auction. I bought it with 160,xxx. Carfax even sent me an email and said I qualify for their buyback guarantee. But I kinda want to keep my xj since it has grown to be mine
I am stupid and didn't get a bill of sale but I have a signed paper from the dude for a $200 diposit I put on the xj before we came to get it the next day.
So I'm thinking about calling the DMV to find out what exact mileage my xj is supposed to have. Then, if the guy I bought it from did roll back the odometer I might go to him first and ask about getting the cash back but also keeping the xj.
The thing is my jeep runs extremely well for apprently having 350,000+ miles on it.
Don't know if there's anything else I should/could do, but surely let me know

You can try all that.
But I'm assuming you will have to chalk it up as a "learning experience".

Sounds like a civil matter, you would have to retain legal counsel to do anything about. Long story short, enjoy your ride......

hahaha that's what I'm thinking. At least it runs great! I'm a criminal justice major so I know a little more than the average person lol. But the "p.o" looked like he was flipping cars and probably rolling back the odometer in more than one of them. So maybe there's already a case on this guy that I may be able to back up a little more

Considering your a c.j. major, and you now basically have proff he rolled it back, which is illegal... id go and bull**** him, say you feel cheated, threaten to press charges, huff and puff and see if you can get a couple hundred out of the guy. If not, tell him to have a nice life, and give the dmv a ring.
