Default car problems

A couple months ago my jeep was actin up.. It would rarely stall but when I was driving it would sputter real bad like its about to stall and when I slammed on the gas it wouldn't get as much power as it should then it would kick back to normal. The only thing I really tried was seafoam but it didn't help. It stopped after a while and now when I'm going more than 50 mph it sputters only a little bit. Everyone tells me to leave it alone but I wanna fix the problem before it gets ne worse.. Ne help?
