About to replace the Oil Pan Seal, and figured while I was in there, I would do the rear main seal, and since the engine has 190k on it, I'd replace the oil pump with a Melling pump.
I've scoured the threads and seen ALL kinds of different ways to prime it (pack it with Vaseline, disconnect the main coil and crank the starter, just start it up, hand crack the oil pump through the block, etc)
So, what's the most effective way to do it that WON'T wreck my brand new pump and/or motor?
It'd be great if everyone could come to ONE way of doing it.

Sure just make sure the engine doesn't start when your cranking it the first time, like no spark, let it crank for a good while till you see some oil in the head.
