If you don’t fix it right it’s just going to fall apart, and being where it is it’s probably going to rust and become a bigger problem.

 

The people that make antenna's used to have rubber plugs of various sizes listed in their catalog. This was years ago I saw this. They were made for this purpose, filling holes of removed antennas. I don't know where to get them today or even if they are still made.

 

This ^ or learn the hard way.

 

I would just put lights on the roof rack when you get it up there and use the hole to run the wires.

 

i know duct tape isn't the way to do it. i was just saying a piece of that on there, then the bondo would still be a better way than trying to close hole with only bondo.

the proper way is to weld a piece of tin in there. then fill and sand smooth.

those rubber plugs would work too. they're available everywhere and cheap too. maybe a tj floor plug will fit.

and that metal plug thing is the coax for the cb antenna, the black plug is probably for the cb harness.

 

thanks for all of the good advice. might look into the plug so i can still have the light wiring option
