Cam in the straight 6
Coming from a family that usually deals with muscle cars, I've been thinking/wanting to put a cam into my jeep. I've already put a header on and a spectre cold air intake and magnaflow exhaust system. What do you guys think or have any of y'all done it?? Thanks in advance!

LMAO
In all seriousness, though, this has been done many times. A mild cam can yield some decent results. For your viewing pleasure:

Right on. Sounds like you have a good background on performance mods. The IL6 4.0 is a pretty basic motor, that likes bottom end mods, almost like a perfect fit for you...looking forward to what you come up with, keep us posted!
FWIW, I'm the recent proud owner of a 4.6 stroked motor. LOVE IT. Also the link above is just to show what's out there, pretty sure you can do some legwork and get the parts to do so, on the cheep cheep. A poor man's stroker is still a stroker, LOL

Performance mods on a 4.0 smogger are a losing proposition. Just drive it easy like it meant to be and don't lead it to an early grave.

So an update, I've got the money and I'm playing on putting in a cam. Just a few questions first, anybody that has done this how difficult was it and we're there and hidden or unknown problems during installation? Thanks in advance!

Most popular cam is the comp 231 or 232, need cam and new lifters. will add like 12 hp across the board.
Most all aftermarket cams will have more lift than your stock valve springs can tolerate, so you must do a valve spring change also. But not too heavy of a valve spring or you will flatten your cam and have big problems.
