It looks like I'm getting some paint work done on my '01 Limited next week. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want to put a bug shield on it when it comes back from the body shop. I have been looking at these.

I'm looking at it from a practical standpoint. I use my XJ as my every day driver, and it has a lot of stone chips in the front of the hood. I'm getting some paint work done (stone chips on hood, inside of doors & hatch rusting at the bottom, back bumper fixed from where a lady backed into it), and I don't want it all chipped up again as soon as I get it back.
What do you guys think? I don't think I have seen a bug shield on any of the Jeeps I have seen in pictures here. Is there a reason why none of you guys like them?

Not a big fan of those, personally i think they're ugly. They have stuff that you can put over the paint, like a clear tape type thing that protects from rock chips. Not sure where you get it from, but i'd look into that. If you're going for practical, and you don't think it looks that bad, then do it. It's YOUR Jeep.

Honestly... I'm kind of indifferent to the looks of them on an XJ. I like the looks of the one on my '03 Explorer, but I could take them or leave them on Cherokees. I was just wondering if there was a reason why I didn't see them on any of the Jeeps I've seen here. Of course, most of the pictures being designed more for play than daily drivers may have something to do with that.
