Default Broken Seats

About a month ago I was coming to a stop at a red light, and heard a snap. Upon investigation, I noticed that the front left corner of my seat pan is cracked all around the bolt. So the bolt is now just holding a small square of metal that came off of the seat pan.

I have noticed a lot of people on here have broken seats in their Jeeps as well. It seems like it is a design flaw, the seat just wasn't very well built. And I know that If I don't replace the seat soon, the increased stress on the remaining 3 bolts will cause the rest of the seat pan to fail. No other cars I have driven, some being much older than my Jeep have this problem.

It seems like a safety issue that is almost inevitable in Jeeps.

Please post here if you have a broken seat. It almost seems like something that should be recalled, since it's a safety issue.

I did submit a complaint to the Office of Defects Investigation, located here: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm

Mine's broke. I fixed it by wraping two large hose clamps around seat frame rails. That lasted about a year before they broke, so this time I put two hose clamps around the rails and then wrapped them with several layers velcro. So far so good.

Driver side seat did the same, started with the rear left and worked it's way to the right front.
